Polish freediver the best in the world!

We are pleased to inform that one of the athletes that we support within our “Grena Talents Forge” programme has set a new world record on November 9th, 2014 in the DNF (dynamic apnea without fins) discipline. Which means in layman’s terms: he swam 226m beneath the water on a single breath.

The World Record was set during the competition in Brno, Czech Republic, which was hold on the weekend 8-9 November 2014.

This athlete sets his goals high and continues to reach them. Just a year ago, Matt Malina – even though he had some previous achievements – couldn’t take part in the world championships because of the lack of funding. We reached out to him with an offer to join our “Grena Talents Forge” programme and we are happy we can support such an incredible and hard-working athlete! The success that Matt gains shows that the passion for what you do and a strong motivation can give great results!

Matt has beaten the previous record which was set a year ago by Goran Colak – 225m, on November 21st, 2013.

You can get more information first-hand from the World Record holder himself and read about what was going on during the dive on his blog as well as take a look at the picture gallery from this event.
